In 2017, Portrait and Fashion Photographer Anne-Marie Michel wrote to us asking if we could help her find women truck drivers who were willing to be photographed with their truck to portray the identity of female truck drivers in the United States.
Anne-Marie traveled across the country meeting diverse women truck drivers, many who are part of the REAL Women in Trucking community.
She spent time with us our NASCAR Campout event in Arizona and during the Queen of the Road - Trucking Industry Trailblazer event, it was first ever dignified recognition award for women truck drivers who have rarely been seen by the public though some have been driving over 56 years in the industry.
The gallery exhibit debuted in London, with RWIT Founder Idella Hansen on hand to meet with attendees. It next traveled to Australia and then made its way to the United States where RWIT Board member Deb Dingo took it on a cross-county tour from California, Texas, Arkansas and finally to the MId-America Truck Show in Louisville Kentucky.
In May 2024, Anne-Marie granted permission to use selected portraits and images for Academic purposes in the upcoming Transportation Research Board NCHRP 08-141 Guidebook for Local Truck Parking Regulations due out in Spring 2025.
The gallery exhibit is now heading to its final destination at the United States Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington D.C.
We look forward to being there during truck driver appreciation week.
